What determines your happiness, does it depend on everything in your life being just right? If you think you can’t be happy until all your circumstances are right, you’ll never be happy.
We all go through times that cause us to feel down for various reasons. However, we can’t let our circumstances control our emotions.
Satan’s goal is to fill your mind with negative thoughts and emotions that take away your happiness. He wants you to be discouraged.
Jesus is Your Encourager
Jesus is your encourager, He came to give you righteousness and joy.
We all experience frustration and distress over unfulfilled hopes and dreams at times.
It’s normal to feel disappointment when things don’t go according to your plans.
You might feel sad temporarily. But weeping only lasts for a time, then comes joy, because your happiness matters to Jesus.
Study the Word and trust God to help you let go of what’s troubling you. Then you can move forward and into the future with hope, faith, and trust in God.
Dig Into The Truth
Dig into the truth of God’s Word, and let his truth be revealed to you. But you, Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. (Psalms 3:3 NIV).
Turn your negative thoughts and words into positive ones. God will help you get things done. I can do all this through him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NIV)
That doesn’t mean we can get whatever we want by just thinking about it.
God has a perfect plan for each of us, and we can’t control Him with our thoughts and words.
But we can agree with God’s will and plan for us in what we think and speak. We can practice being positive in every situation that comes up in life.
Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV)
You may not be thankful for your pain and discomfort, but you can be thankful that God is with you, and will work all things out for your good as you continue to love him and do his will.
Expect Good Things From God
If there’s something in your life that seems negative at the moment, expect God to bring good out of it. You can get your happiness back.
He made that promise in His Word. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 NIV)
Real Hope Makes a Real Difference
Hope is a powerful, spiritual force that is activated through our positive attitude. It’s not a wishy-washy “I just hope things get better” kind of mindset that doesn’t trust God.
Think of hope this way: happy anticipation that something good is going to happen or an aggressive expectation of good things.
Remember, what Satan means for harm, God intends for good and that all things work together for good for those who love God as stated above. Romans (8:28)
Satan wants to hurt you and keep you from trusting others. He doesn’t want you to believe good things can happen to and through you, because of your past hurts and disappointments.
But you don’t have to settle for that lie. Instead, you can focus on God and His Word and believe what He says more than what you think or feel or what your circumstances look like.
Child of The Living God
You can say, “No! That is subject to change! I am a child of the living God! Something good is going to happen to me and through me!”
In Christ, you are a new creation. You don’t have to allow the old things that have happened to you to continue to affect your new life in Christ. (See 2nd Corinthians 5:17)
You can renew your mind according to the Word of God. As you do, you’ll discover more of God’s will for your life and have hope—an aggressive, positive expectation that something good is going to happen—every single day!
(This article was inspired by Joyce Meyer along with my own experience and study)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)
